Touchpad and Mouse Questions

Q: Where's the mouse?

A: We will not be providing you with a mouse. However, you are welcome to purchase one for use with the tablet. Be certain that it uses a USB connection; there are no PS2 ports available (The round type with pins).

Q: Is there any way to turn off the touchpad mouse? It is still active when I have my USB mouse connected.

A: Hold down the Fn key (Function key, lower left area of the keyboard) and press F9. Do it again to turn the touchpad back on.

Word - Ink Annotations toolbar

The Tablet version of Word has some new features specifically for use with the pen. It is probably a good idea to make sure the Ink Annotations toolbar is always visible. You can select it via the View menu:

The Ink Annotations toolbar can be dragged up and dropped in with the other Toolbars.

Updates - What to do

Several programs will ask to run occasional updates. It is okay to let the updates be installed. Some of the programs that are likely to request permission to install updates include:

Volume settings - Issues with Feedback or Static

- Find the volume icon on the taskbar (It looks like a little blue-grey loudspeaker).
- Right click on it.

- Select Open Volume Control.

- Settings should be similar to or as shown above.
- The Input Monitor should have the Mute box checked. This is the most important step for reducing static and feedback.
- Close (or "X" out) the Volume Control window after making your changes.

Additional changes that can be made to improve sound quality:
- Double click on microphone icon.

In Toshiba Mic Effect properties window, go to the Echo Canceller tab and adjust volume settings as shown below.
Click Close after adjusting settings.

Select a Wireless Network

Right click on the Wireless network icon.

Select View Available Wireless Networks.

Click on the Wireless network that you want to Connect to, then click on the Connect button.

Wireless not working - Check Switch

Sometimes the wireless connection is not working for the most simple of reasons: The switch in front has been turned off.

The switch should always be set to On.

And the amber light next to the wireless icon will be lit.

If the computer is turned on but that light is not on, most likely the wireless switch is set to Off.
