Occupational Therapy

School based occupational therapy is a related service to special education. A student with an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) is eligible to receive a related service, such as occupational therapy. Occupational therapy supports students with fine motor and/or sensory motor concerns. Summit SD #104 happily employees one district-wide Occupational Therapist.

Physical Therapy

School based physical therapy is a related service to special education. A student with an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) is eligible to receive a related service, such as physical therapy. Physical Therapy supports students with gross motor concerns. Summit SD #104 contracts a district-wide Physical Therapist

Nurse

School based nursing is offered to everyone within the school and is considered a related service for those with a 504 plan or IEP. A student with a 504 Plan and/or an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) is eligible to receive a related service, such as Nurse consult/services. Nursing helps to support the student overall functioning within the school setting.

District #104 employees five Nurses. The primary role of Nurses is to address deficits in communication including both speech and language.
