Would you rather Tootsie Rolls or Lollipops? Grade 3 students in Ms. Schneider's classroom at Walsh published opinion writing pieces recently. In collaboration with Ms. Pisano, our K-4 Instructional Coach, students worked through prewriting (generating ideas) to a first draft (adding transition words and revising to be sure they included strong reasons) and finally publishing their final drafts and showcasing them in the "Gallery" (the hallway). To celebrate their accomplishments, students used their rubric to write 5-star reviews for their friends. Great job, writers! A special thank you to support staff, Ms. Cafcules, Ms. Isroff, & Mrs. Gardner. This series of lessons aligns with Common Core Standard W.3.1 - I can write opinion pieces on topics or texts, supporting a point of view with reasons.
